What is the hash tag for twitter for? - Moby Slick - 01-05-2013 01:31 AM What is the # on twitter for? - arshak anjum - 01-05-2013 01:39 AM A hash tag is simply a way for people to search for tweets that have a common topic. For example, if you search on #LOST (or #Lost or #lost, because it's not case-sensitive), you'll get a list of tweets related to the TV show. What you won't get are tweets that say "I lost my wallet yesterday" because "lost" isn't preceded by the hash tag. - Emily - 01-05-2013 01:39 AM It makes a link out of the word and it helps people find other tweets about the topic. I like to run, and whenever my tweet has the hash tag i get follow requests and tweets from other runners on twitter. Kind of an attention getter |
