You have been hacked. You didn't get an email recently asking you to verify or update your account did you, or provide your password? If so that was not from Yahoo, it was a phishing scam

-change your password ASAP and make sure the alternate address is still yours
- Under Settings click on Mail Options > POP & Forwarding to make sure your mail is not being forwarded to another person's address
- If your Contacts are gone fill out a Contact Restore form right away http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/contacts/restore/ab_restore.html
- Find some way to contact everyone to tell them you were hacked and not to send money -- Facebook, text message, Twitter, etc
- If you use the same email and password to log into any other website (Facebook, Paypal, Ebay, Amazon, online banking, credit card, Twitter, Linkedin, etc, etc) you need to immediately change all of those passwords. Unfortunately 80% of people use the same username and password for everything and the hackers know this and will try to hijack all of your other accounts
- If you had ANY sensitive or financial information in your Inbox or files (bank or credit card statements, paypal receipts, etc) you need to contact those financial institutions and either freeze your account and get a new account (for bank, credit card) or change your Paypal email. These hackers will copy all of your emails looking for how they can steal money from you
