Why is my browser randomly forwarding me to different websites? - huskermania - 01-06-2013 06:08 PM

It's happened to me several times and I don't know what the problem is. I've run Norton on my Mac and it still happens. It can be Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. It's mostly happened with Facebook and Twitter. Twitter is the most affected. However, this all happens randomly.

If this redirect is happening randomly and does not seem confined to one website alone, your PC is likely to be infected.

Download and run MalwareBytes Anti-Malware. MBAM is known to be rather useful in detecting and removing malware infections. There is a free version of the software available:
http://www.malwarebytes.org/

Once downloaded, close all programs and windows on your computer.
Double-click on the icon on your desktop named mbam-setup.exe.
This will start the installation of MalwareBytes Anti-malware onto your computer.
When the installation begins, keep following the prompts in order to continue with the installation process.
Do not make any changes to default settings and when the program has finished installing, make sure a checkmark is placed next to “Update Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware” and Launch “Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware”. Then click Finish.
MalwareBytes Anti-malware will now automatically start and you will see a message stating that you should update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Now make sure the “Perform quick scan” option is selected and then click on the Scan button to start scanning your computer. When the scan is finished a message box will appear that it has completed scanning successfully. Click OK. Now click “Show Results”
Ensure all entries have a checkmark at their far left and click “Remove Selected” button to remove what has been found.

If this fails, or if you believe your computer to be infected still, there are forums on the Internet where trained specialists help to completely disinfect your PC at NO cost. One such forum is:

Hope you get your problem solved!
