I have been noticing on shows in the bottom left corner you will see a # with letters for example was watching whitest kids you know and in corner was #WKUK. Noticed it on other shows too even on other channels. Is it a text thing?

Its a hash tag. I actually wasn't sure either and when I looked it up, saw your question and decided this needs to be solved.
It's used on twitter to categorize searches. So when you tweet about a show you like, use the hash tag they provide and when someone searches for tweets related to that, your tweet will come up in the search.
