Do you think Yahoo is sending mixed messages? - Tom - 01-07-2013 02:19 PM

They say we have to follow the community guidelines and not socialize, But then I see where Yahoo is opening up Y!A to facebook and Twitter for the purpose of expanding their social out reach. Isn't this being hypocritical?

I wondered that too.

They also have an app for Youtube for Yahoo tool bar.

I do believe they are a bit more lenient and seem to reinstate more violated Q&A's.

On The Old Days, when the BBC was just about the only thing around, people used to get fed up with their prissy old maid 'we must educate' attitude and called it, 'The Beeb' or 'Aunty Beeb.' Yahoo has inherited that exact same mentality. Their 'Community Guidelines' are designed by 11 year olds. They delete questions that are so innocuous, they could be asked in church..! I was answering the question, 'Do you like the music of The 50's.?' and they deleted it..!

I thought, 'Crikey.! All that starch in their knickers, it must be painful.'

Adult Logic does not work in Yahoo. And you think they're checking texts for inappropriate language, until you realise they've set up a computer programme with a list of words and that roams and scans all the time. Trouble is, there are many words that are both inappropriate and have also a perfectly good English meaning.

Here's some example (and watch how their programme deletes..)

Donkey can be called 'a double ess,' ass. Check the delete.

Take with a pinch of salt, in Latin, is see u em grano salis. Now watch. cum grano salis.

As for not socialising, it can't be avoided, the way they've set it all up. You can edit a letter and add comments about other comments in that question and everyone does it. The Yahoo messages aren't just mixed, they're illogical.

There're idiots. i ask a question about seniors vaccinations and they deleted it. but one about why old people stink was on here three days. someone asked about a particular food it was deleted but how old are you and do you still have sex holds valuable info? like i said idiots. i dont appeal i just move on.

Their guidelines seem to be swayed by greed.

when people appeal violations they will write comments like im done with yahoo im going to face book or twitter so i think they are trying to do ( if you can't beatem joinem kinda thing)

Answers to virtually everything can be found on the internet ,and does not rely on opinions., which is what you mostly find Y/A.
Giving points, best answers, thumbs up or down ,avatars and personal pictures makes this a social site. ...BUT.... we have to disguise our sociable questions in a cloak of seriousity, incase it contravenes the guidelines , usually chatting ?????

ps the spell checker has no sense of humour, doesn't like seriosity lol.

Sure is.

Hang in there. They will get sick of policing us eventually.

Plus whenever the "staff" asks a question, they always use all the buzzwords they warn us not to. Stupid.
