I'm going out of America with my newly bought iPhone 5. I am under Verizon contract. Will my Internet and texting and apps like twitter and Instagram work in places like Philippines?

Yes, the iPhone 5 does work internationally. It would be cheaper to buy a local SIM card and put that into the phone for use overseas than to pay Verizon's high international roaming rates. The internet and texting and those apps should work as long as there is coverage.
