I want to post quirky and fun things about life, school, food and fashion along with music. I have a twitter and I have about 500 followers. I want something similar to twitter experience where I can enjoy and post things simple and easy.
Which one is better? Tumblr or Livejournal?

Tumblr all the way!!
Tumblr is a LOT similar to Twitter. The only thing is that Tumblr does not have a direct "Chat". You still get to talk to people and have tons of fun. I may not have a lot of followers but I still think it's better. AND you still get to post anything you would like on your blog.
I'm sure your blog will be GREAT!

LJ has a better interface, it's better to navigate around, see profiles of who you're dealing with. Voice posts if you're into that.
Also, some published writers use LJ, more than what is on this list:

I would say try both websites, and see which one you like better. Tumblr has more of a twitter feel to it, only it lacks in a Chat system, but you do have an ask box/inbox.
