she will have 2,125,760 followers in a year.
you just have to start out with 8 followers and watch as it triples each month and then add those flowers.
i.e. 8+24+72+216+648...and so on and so on

Suppose Mary's followers triple every month.
After 0 months, she has 8(3)^0 = 8 followers.
After 1 month, she has 8(3)^1 = 24 followers.
After 2 months, she has 8(3)^2 = 72 followers.
In general, after k months, she has 8(3)^k followers.
So after 1 year (or 12 months), Mary has 8(3)^12 = 4,251,528 followers.
