It depends greatly on what city/paper you are trying to put an advert in.

It really depends on what newspaper you plan on putting it in. So what you are going to have to do is call a newspaper or newspapers and ask and get a rough idea. As for the facebook and myspace ads, you could always email their tech support and ask, because usually they send you a personal response for question, because I had to ask them something before and I got a personal response from a technician at myspace.

Why won't they tell you? They are the only ones who know how much they charge. Did you look online to find their media kit?

Hmm... perhaps you can look at the back cover of the newspaper, and see who advertised there - call them up, ask for their marketing/advertising department, and see if they will tell you how much they paid. If you explain it is for a project they might be more willing to tell you then if you are a competing business. Worth a shot, anyway.

Im in the u.k so you may have to convert this if your not. I used to work for a local newspaper which had 5 papers covering the whole of Gloucestershire (google it and youl see the area) so the average readership was 63.000 people per day buying the papers. To in all 5 was £11.95 Per centimeter square. Its difficult to explain how its worked out because the column widths are funny and I left the job a while ago and cant remember them but a full page was 28 x 7 =112
thats the area. Then 112 x 11.95 £1338.40

Then Colour was an extra 25%
If you wanted Guarenteed page you had to work out 25% of the £1338.40 and add it on so £334.60 extra for page 3,5,7 or 9, which are the prime position pages. That was for one day! There would be a discount for every day about 30% and probably negotiate guarenteed position as well.

Hope that helps
