Who can I complain to about sharing my email address without my consent? - Karen - 01-17-2013 09:00 PM

I received an email from a certain mobile phone retailer and instead of them putting contacts in the BCC they have put them in the CC and I have received over 150 other peoples email addresses and also they have received mine? Who, if anyone can I complain to? People could use that email address and put it into facebook and get a picture, hometown and more from that, and surely it should not be allowed? Advice on this would be gratefully accepted Smile

It's completely legal, you have dozens of different options you can use to block your email address, especially in facebook. If you don't use them its your problem if they find it.

Contact the mobile phone retailer, and ask them to remove you from their marketing system.

About the other 150 people who have your email address, you can't do anything about that.
