How long will my laptop last? I know this is a recycled question but these things change...? - Clive - 01-20-2013 09:01 AM

15 years

That depends on how smart or ignorant the user is.

- McGubbins - 01-20-2013 09:09 AM

Depends on what you use it for.

It depends on your care of it and your needs.
I managed with a laptop I bought in 1998 which lasted all the way through to 2009. I'd normally say you'd be looking at 5 years of general use. 3 if you push it.

In all reality that's like asking how long will a light bulb last
or how long is a piece of string!

No one can actually put a time frame on it.

Treated with a bit of respect it could last you 5/10 years.

Flog it to death and bash it about and it wont last you 2 years!

some of the people here are right. if you take good care of it, then you'll be able to hang on to it 15+yrs. I have a Dell D600 built in 1994 & it still runs great. all I do is regular maintenance on it, us it for facebook, twitter, building web pages, docs etc.
