Compare the United States in the first decade of the nineteenth century with the United States at mid-century? - Hardcorefisherguy12 - 01-21-2013 12:42 AM

Compare the United States in the first decade of the nineteenth century with the United States at mid-century (1850s). What differences and similarities were there in terms of politics, economics, and society? Compare the following: population, territory, markets, technology, foreign relations, distribution of rights, and major political and social issues.

G'day Hardcore,

Thank you for your question.

This is obviously homework and you will have to do most of the work yourslf. I would look at issues such as growth in population, increase in states and areas under US control. I would look at issues such as industrialisation, the spread of canals and railways, changes in foreign policy and the changes in party systems from Federalsits and Republicans (not the modern Republicans) to Democrats and Whigs.

Good luck.
