Did you know that Jesus was a Libertarian not a Liberal? - Foghorn - 01-21-2013 12:43 PM

Whether they believe in God or not, all libertarians have good reason to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. If only more Americans would be more Christ-like in holding the government in contempt, resisting its ridiculous edicts, rebelling against its wealth redistribution and honoring free enterprise, we’d all be a lot freer here in the “land of the free.”

And if we observed the one rule this great libertarian gave us on dealing with one another, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,” we’d live in a safer, more peaceful world.

Merry Christmas to all.

@bash- He told us to give up our wealth of our own free will. He never advocated for the Government to do it for us. As a matter of fact he was in trouble with the Government ever since he was born which is why he was born in Bethlehem.

I'm sure they didn't have Libertarianism back then.

It doesn't matter. Yuor team lost the election, and America won. That matters.

Jesus was a jew.

No, I didn't know that, lol?

Libertarianism has a very strong streak of social darwinism. Think Jesus was a social darwinist? Think he would have agreed with Ayn Rand that the poor and stupid hold back the smart and successful?

- BASH - 01-21-2013 12:51 PM

Right. That's why he told you to give up everything you own to the poor. That's why he spent most of his time on earth healing the sick with free medical care. That's why he told you that you should help out foreigners in their time of need. I'm sure Ayn Rand would TOTALLY agree with Jesus. Sure.

He was a socialist.

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink;
or about your body, what you will wear.
Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow.
They do not labor or spin.
Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.
If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?

So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

~ Matthew 6:25-31

When I read this, I get the feeling that Jesus would not oppose entitlements, food stamps or housing subsidies. He didn't feel you had to work to "deserve" the basic necessities. You don't have to labor or spin for Jesus.

Libertarians are sociopaths, by definition. The Jesus of scripture was most certainly not a sociopath...
