The Cold War was an ideological conflict between the Liberal Democratic,free market capitalist West (led by USA),and the totalitarian,command economy Communist Eastern Bloc (led by USSR).Both sides wanted their political,social,and economic system to be the globally dominant one.
The Cold War lasted from the end of WW2 to 1991,when the USSR collapsed due to internal economic problems.
