I've found on twitter and facebook that allot of people have the number 146 in the right hand bottom corner of their profile pic.
It's also an emoticon on facebook chat
what is it?

It can mean they have been tagged as 146 by the network owners

It's to show your support for abused children. It's the same reason why so many people have changed their profile pictures to a cartoon character.
