I believe that pertains to creative photos that you can mostly find shared on Facebook, Twitter - more on Pinterest and 9Gag.
It can also be a video format.
It can help a lot if it was done flawlessly, creatively and with humor, because people are naturally visual.

Visual media is a great alternative to blogs. Using YouTube to talk to the consumer is a great way to communicate. Some people prefer to read, some are visual learners. I like Pinterest for some businesses. B2C is where Pinterest is usually most effective. All visual sites like Pinterest, Flickr, and YouTube are places where you can promote your business through effective marketing - whether creating an educational message on YouTube, showing how the product works, or visual testimonials. The idea is you are building credibility for your product/service through a visual media, something somebody can see vs. read.
