how to make others follow you in twitter? - John paul Arenilla - 10-11-2012 09:42 PM

I don't really know anything about twitter cause I rather use facebook, but since most of my friends use, I also want to learn something about it. I'm not famous or anything, so I don't expect anyone to follow me, but the question is" Why is it that almost all twitter users has a lot of followers?" should I randomly follow anyone so that I would be recognized?

Yeah, just randomly follow anyone. Twitter is very quick way to get famous. When you're 'popular' , un-follow them. Thats what I always do.

Following other accounts randomly is a good strategy to make them follow you in return. One important tip is to follow people with same interest with you - to get better chances of building a list of followers. Also, to get a good start, follow people that are close to you first - loved ones, friends, colleagues - and you can make use of 'search' to find these people. Building a huge list of followers can not be done overnight - it takes time and nurturing. Make your page interesting to them to attract more followers. Eventually, all your effort will bear fruit.

There's that #TeamFollowBack rubbish. But that's not for me.

No! You don't follow just anyone you recognize, you follow EVERYONE.
Say you like a band, follow everyone who likes that band. They'll follow you back. You need to spend hours every day following people, even if you don't know them. Follow companies. If you follow 'adult' ones, well, you'll be sure to get a lot of follows instantly.
Make sure you post something every second of the day too. Preferably with a picture. It's more intense than Facebook. I want to know what you're doing every.single.second.

#followeveryone

Be prepared to have no social life, either. Why see people, when you can just tweet them?

Well, ask your friends and family to follow you. Also follow only people you really think are interesting, why would you want to follow random people?

Usually, people with a huge amount of followers gather them in other channels, like youtube or tumblr.

Creating your own blog and once you gather traffic promote your tumblr account there works marvels.

Creatring viral videos on youtube is harder but you can get literally hundreds of followers

below there are more tips to gain followers.
