How To Use Annotations On YouTube? - David - 01-26-2013 01:26 AM

More specifically, how to use the "Associated Website" feature. How do I link to my twitter or facebook account?
No, those methods don't work. It says I need to "verify that I own it." I clicked "Request Approval" but I waited for a week and a half and nothing happened. I then decided to use the other methods, but they either 1. Required me to edit the HTML (Which I can't do on facebook or twitter) or 2. Log in with a domain hosting service (Which again, I can't do on facebook or twitter).

Go to settings and there is an option for annotation.

Associated Website annotations provide verified partners who are in good standing a way to annotate to their associated websites directly from their videos. You can check if your channel meet this criteria on the YouTube Settings/Features page.

Create an Associated Website Annotation

To create an Associated Website annotation, you must verify your channels as the official representation of your brand on YouTube. To do so, navigate to your Settings, click on Associated website under your Channel settings, and follow the instructions. You can find more information about Associates here.

As a Channel Owner, you will have to enter the retailer website below as well. When both sides have finished this process, you will see "Success" on the account associated website page.

1. From Video Manager, click the downwards arrow next to the Edit button of the video you want to change, then select the annotations options.

2. If this is the first time you are using External linking annotations, at the top of the menu you'll see a banner that says “Enable your account for external annotation links.” In order to use Associated Website annotations, you will need to click the Enable button and accept the Terms and Conditions.

3. Once you’ve accepted the Terms and Conditions, click the Add annotation button to create a new annotation, or select an existing annotation. Select the "Link" checkbox to add a retail url, then select the category Associated Website.

4. When you’ve placed your associated website link and have finished editing your annotation, select Save and/or Publish.
