How can I use this phone in America? (BEST ANSWER = 10 POINTS!!!)? - LEMONY - 01-26-2013 03:26 AM

Hello, I am in search of a new phone for christmas, and this phone (Alcatel ICE 3) caught my attention. Here in america, everything is touchscreen and getting super expensive. I want something with a qwerty keyboard, youtube, facebook, and twitter. This is more than enough for me; thus, the Alcatel ICE 3 features this all. Sadly, this phone isn't sold in America, so I have to order it from eBay. How will I be able to use this phone (with all of its features included) in Florida? Thanks! Please answer I really like this phone. Smile

It will only work in the USA if its specifications say it is "unlocked", "quad band" and "GSM".

(Quad band means that its cell radio will operate on the correct frequencies for both USA and the rest of the world, and GSM means it uses a SIM card, and unlocked means it will work with any company's SIM card).

You also should make sure the phone can be set to English language.

If you aren't sure about the specifications from the eBay ad, you can always send the seller a question.

P.S. It is possible that the phone won't be able to use 3G/4G data and instead will use a slower data connection, due to differences between USA and international data formats. This is a problem that happens sometimes when using a foreign phone in the USA and vice-versa.
