Sorry if this sounds stupid but I'm not too great with Twitter yet. Anyways I have been commenting people on Twitter but never get a response. What is the correct way of doing this? Also, if I protect my tweets does that mean others MUST follow me in order for them to read my comments to them?

people must follow you in order to reply to them. at first i didnt get twitter that much, but i got used to it. go on your friends page and click on the arrow. you will be lead back to ur page. itll say something like -for example- @juliaerica_04
THEN IT WILL APPEAR ON HIS-HER PAGE.

Begin your Tweet with the username of the person you're commenting to.
Like this:
@smur061 How are you?
This is better than direct messaging someone since those message boxes are usually filled with spam. If you include the person's username with the @username anywhere in the Tweet, they are much more likely to see it. However, if they follow lots of people it may still get lost in the feed, so don't be too afraid to try again after 24 or 48 hours.
