Do tax-paying Democrats with money in the stock market agree with Obama's policies? - David L - 01-27-2013 02:13 AM

I understand that many voted for him because he promised change. He's delivering and though I'm against almost all of his ideas, I see how people of a different mindset could agree with him. Do those of you that have lost 30-50% of your investments or will have to pay higher taxes agree with his economic/social policies?

I understand that what has taken eight years to occur is not going to magically be "fixed" in mere weeks and days.

I increased the percentage taken out of my paycheck for my 401k contribution immediately after Obama won the election. The stock market can only go up from where Bush inevitably led it.

What some people are losing sight of (apparently) is that the stock market is a LONG-TERM INVESTMENT. Yes, I know that the whole concept of "long-term" is almost beyond the comprehension of many Americans hopelessly mired in the mindset of "immediate gratification."

I do. I also have an attention span long enough to remember that the market has been in a dive for well over a year, and Obama was only sworn in 6 weeks ago.

I've also got an investment timeframe long enough that I'm confident I can ride out this period of volatility, and the marketshare I'm grabbing now will be bigger for it when the day comes.

I do. Sometimes sacrifice is necessary. Bush left us no choice...We are trying to undo 8 years of ignorance.

Yes.
Government spending is the ONLY way to stimulate the economy.

Tax cuts do not, and never have, create jobs or stimulate spending.

I know that I am willing to pay a bit more in taxes - even though my income is not $250,000, to ensure that my neighbors have adequate food, shelter, health care, and education.

And I lost 1/3 of my retirement savings.

Being republican is about being selfish.
