How to Tell my Mom about what I did? - Monica - 01-28-2013 11:17 AM

I asked my mom a couple of months ago if I could join Twitter. She said I couldn't because there are some inappropriate things on there. I had a dream last night where I joined Twitter and lots of good things kept happening. So this morning, I signed up. I wasn't going to tell here about it, but one of my idols, Cody Simpson, followed me. I am really excited and want to tell her but I can't. She is on Twitter but doesn't know that I am. I feel extremely guilty about the whole thing and want to tell her, but I know that she will be upset with me because I didn't ask her first. What do I do? I definitely want to tell her but I don't know how. What do I tell her, without her getting upset?

Go up to her and say "mom I feel extremely bad but I did something you told me not to.." And if she says "what?!" Say "I signed up for twitter im so so sorry mom!" That's what I would say anyway. Or you can just delete your twitter maybe?

Just calmly tell her. Give her a few reasons why you want one and think it's ok, then let her decide. She is your mom, and you do have to respect what she says. I mean it is pretty cool Cody followed you, but I think that listening to your mom is the right thing to do.

Hello Monica!
Well I really agree that you should let your mom know! I suggest bringing up the subject when she is in a good mood and tell her that you want a twitter to find out more about your idol, Cody Simpson. Remind her that you are a good daughter and that you would NEVER be involved with any inapropriate behavior that goes on there. If you don't feel comfortable bringing up the topic, instead write her a letter or make a PowerPoint for her outlining how you would act responsibly on twitter. Congrats on the follow from Cody Simpson and I wish you the best of luck! Smile

ok one thing, a celebrity doesnt just follow a fan, you have to talk to them on Twitter and earn their respect, they dont just say "hey! a fan of mine! im gonna follow them" no its a fake....second dont tell her if you know shes going to get upset

Get off of Twitter NOW. Then you can tell her that you went on Twitter, felt really guilty and bad about it and got off of it. then ask her if she would PLEASE let you get back on if she moniters it and guides you through it for a while. I'm really sorry, but I felt so guilty that I had to tell you. Tell her some of your girlfriends that are on it (and be truthful) and tell her that you think you're mature enough, but you WANT her to go on there with you for the first few weeks so you know how to handle it. If she says yes, then be very happy because it's better than not being on it at all, and it's the first step of being on there by yourself.

Destiny,

I know her and Cody really did follow her. She just asked him to and he did.

Also, I think she's going to tell her mom tonight. Thanks for all the advice!
