I know i wont get 1 million followers over night, but i just made a fan page and i was wondering how to promote it correctly so over time it will become slightly famous! thanks!

If you have other social networking sites, you should link your twitter onto there. Tell people that you know to follow you, or make a deal and follow them back. You should update pretty frequently and use trending hashtags, which can possibly give you more followers. The more followers you have, the more your twitter will be out there for people to see.

I currently have 1,200 followers, and have had this twitter account less than a year. Heres how:
First, tweet about stuff people want to read. Not random crap.
Second, Follow 2000 people, Hit your following limit.
Third, put "I follow back everyone' in your profile, and do it.
Forth, after so long, after so many people follow you back, go through and unfollow everyone who is not following you. And follow new random people. 6 out of 10 people follow back.
Fifth, tweet with other people handles in your tweets so their followers will see it.
Sixth, tweet to celebrities and fan pages.
and lastly, do Shout outs and ask other people Shout out for shout out.

Twitter is all about advertisement. Once you know tips on how to promote your profile you'll get more and more fans.
Just market your twitter anywhere you could possibly bring to mind.
