I guess Im old fashioned, so Id follow people who were interesting, had a bit of flare and made me laugh. NOT because they followed me, NOT because they were popular and NOT to conform.

if i was a celebrity then i would try on twitter, i would follow everyone that followed me on tumblr though. i would actually hire someone just to sit there and click "follow" on all my followers list

I wouldn't follow annoying people who constantly beg for follows or make lame fan accounts. At the same time, although it's nice to follow a lot of people, it just clutters things up when you follow too many people or have them on your timeline. So I'd follow only 500 people, those being people I actually know, and maybe 100 more fans who I find interesting
