I want to know the following things:
What is a blog?
How can I start writing a blog?
Can a person make a career out of it? If yes, then how?

A blog is simply a webpage that can pretty much be anything the writer wants it to be. It can be all pictures, words, videos, anything at all!
The first thing you need to do is find out what interests you and what exactly you would like to blog about:
Your favorite hobbies
Music
Books
sports
Then you can go to blogspot, blogger, Wordpress, Weebly, or any other of the hundreds of blog hosting sites and set up a few account and then you can customize the look and layout of you blog, and then your ready to start blogging!
Yes, in theory it is possible for a person to make a living out of it, but very difficult and rare. A person can make money from advertising, selling merchandise, or some companies will pay to have them blog about their products.
Blogging is a great outlet and a fun hobby! It takes some times to start and maintain but is very satisfying.
Once you make a blog, comment on other people's blogs to create relationships and help promote your own blog, and also use Twitter, Facebook, or any other social media's to help advertise your own blog and gain readers. You can even start a Twitter or Facebook that is specific for your blog!
