what does (Y) and (8) mean on things like facebook and twitter? - HereiAm - 09-30-2012 11:45 AM what does (Y) and (8) mean on things like facebook and twitter? does it mean like good and bad or summin?? - Sensco - 09-30-2012 11:53 AM Y alone is just a short way to type 'why'. 8 is used in things like l8r. Using 'l' '8' and 'r', you just spelled later. - Apple - 09-30-2012 11:53 AM They're shortcuts for emoticons used in MSN. (Y) = thumbs up (8) = music note - cdfloory2 - 09-30-2012 11:53 AM (Y) and (8) are MSN shortcuts from ye days of olde - (y) meaning "thumbs up" (smiley), (n) meaning "thumbs down" (smiley), (8) being a musical note. I don't know how they're used elsewhere, I guess it just makes sense if you know them. |
