Why do ads keep popping up on my websites I'm on but say "Ads Not By This Site"? - rdusher96 - 02-01-2013 01:03 PM

They don't pop up in new windows like a virus would but if I'm on twitter or tumblr or even on here, yahoo answers, there's ads at the top of the pages. Anyone had this happen or know what I need to do about it??

If you're using IE switch to Google Chrome.

Your computer has adware, which is like a virus, but it displays ads.

This guide by Facebook should help you.

It is an adware infection which is supposed to display advertisements (SPAM). To get rid of ads not by his site malware, you must uninstall its all components from your browser and delete its files from your computer, or better to scan the computer with a malware removal program

I think that you’re dealing with the google redirect virus. If I’m right you’ll experience the following issues:

•You can’t navigate to certain web pages
•Redirect a web browser to suspicious sites whenever the user enters invalid address or performs a web search like doing a Google/Yahoo/Bing search.
•Track user’s web browsing habits, record addresses of visited sites and send collected data to a distant server.
•New foolbars or Favorites are installed or added with desktop shortcuts and links to webpages that you don’t want or not.
•Modify the essential web browser settings, decrease the default security level and add undesirable or insecure resources to the trusted sites list.
•The browser keeps redirecting you to some suspicious website/s and all the search results like Google search results and Bing search results are directing to unknown websites.
•Adds keep popping up on visited pages

The symptoms are variable and depending on the development stage of the google redirect virus. That’s why it’s hardly recognizable at its initial stage.
Concerning the solution, you can try this:
•Check Local Area Network (LAN) settings
•Make sure that DNS settings are not changed
•Check Windows HOSTS file
•Manage Internet Explorer add-ons. Remove unknown or suspicious add-ons
•Use TDSSKiller tool to remove malware belonging to the family Rootkit.Win32.TDSS
•Scan your computer with some anti-malware software like ComboFix, for example.
•Use CCleaner to remove unnecessary system/temp files and browser cache
•Reset your Router back to the factory default settings

If you can’t handle the problem you can I recommend using safe and reputable software as the one I have provided in the source. The Google redirect virus automated removal deals with malware infections that result in Google redirect virus symptoms and are so difficult to detect and fix.
Best Regards!
