What is your opinion on people lying on the internet for the purpose of research? - Babette - 02-01-2013 03:37 PM

Some people, as we all know, create fake profiles and idenities online all the time. How do you feel about people setting up fake profiles (On facebook, twitter, dating sites, here) to do research for work, school projects, blogs, etc? Does that idea bother you?

It doesn't bother me as much as I think it should. I realize that the people who need to lie about themselves and create fake identities through the internet hold certain insecurities and it's a viable option for them to be able to live the life that they want to and possibly feel better for a little while. I guess the way I think of it is like an antidote to modern society. It provides an escape route for those who need it

It's okay to me, as long as they don't harass anyone or cyber-bully people...using the accounts to disturb or confuse people can be annoying sometimes, though. But fake profiles are one of the best ways to get people with low esteem boost their confidence.

If I were you , I would choose a safe dating site first. Marrymillionaire.com and giftsdating.com verify all members. Few fake profiles on these sites.
