What are some good Universities on the east coast for International Relations? - A.J. - 02-01-2013 05:23 PM

In a few weeks I'll be graduating with a 3.5 and an Associate's in Social Science from a SUNY community college. It would be nice to only get suggestions of schools I'd actually have a shot at getting into lol.
Oh crap! Well, thanks for the honest answers. I've gotta admit I'm a little scared now because I've already sunk 2 years into all the Social Science credits. I'm pretty sure most schools would only let me into those worthless programs. I guess I really don't know what to do or take now because I don't think I'd get into any programs like business, computer science or marketing.

American University in DC.

None...because international relations is considered one of those "worthless degrees" alongside English literature, history, and anthropology. Read about what happens here:

Boston University, University of Massachusetts (Amherst has dorms, Boston campus you'd need to find a place to live on your own), Suffolk University, Northeastern University. If you want to go on to study law, Suffolk has a law school with an evening program and a fantastic library.

I agree with Rustic B that International Relations is a worthless degree for employment. There are however jobs for top graduates with degrees in international marketing [plus fluency in a modern language].

Look at the programs at:

SUNY Brockport
SUNY Farmingdale
FIT

As a standard of comparison, look at the International Business honors program at Florida International University

You cannot get employed in that field without a PhD.

Regardless, BAs in international relations from any college, be it Harvard or the University of Alabama, are all the same. All BA programs are the same everywhere, basically.

Try and switch to education. So you can get a job as a teacher.
