What are some good supporting ideas for this thesis/argument? - 2cool4u - 02-01-2013 08:48 PM

Thesis: social media (facebook, myspace, twitter) is harmful to its users because it exposes them to the dangers of cyber bullying and scamming.
What are some strong supporting ideas/arguments from cyber bullying and some for scamming? (Cyber bullying mostly)

Firstly, what you are calling a thesis, is not one.

There is no question to answer, what you have is a simple statement of your belief, as you supply no proof.

Try something like this -

'Social media such as Facebook, Myspace and Twitter, though useful for social intercourse, can be seen as harmful to it's users because it can exposes them to the dangers of cyber bullying and scamming, but are they all as bad as many people believe?'

Now you can go on and expand your thesis into the body of the essay.

1. Disclosure of names/phone numbers/D.O.B./etc. required on registration, which unless highly restricted and protected from the general public by your choice of 'security settings', all conspire to make the individual open to attack in some way.

2. Settings for 'privacy' are not always clearly marked.

3. It can be argued the that restriction of information rather defeats the purpose of 'social interaction'.
