If they did, they did so because they are really scared right now.

They want to maintain a low profile, as they know with the current anger about the ease to obtain guns, and the availability of weapons like assault weapons (which no one needs) is going to result in public pressure to ban their sale.
They are afraid if they remain visible they will just generate more anger.
Lets call the Senators, and congress men and women and demand they take action to strengthen gun control, and ban assault weapons.
