Can the iPad get infected with malware if you click on a bad link? - Box - 02-02-2013 05:55 AM

This version is iOS 5.1.1. Unfortunately, I was gullible enough to click on this tinyurl link on Twitter that someone sent me but Safari said it couldn't open the webpage. This user is now suspended so I have a feeling that that link might not have been safe.

I've cleared out my cookies, my Internet history, and changed most if not all of the passwords that I can recall that I've used on my iPad.
Can the iPad get infected with a virus if you click on a bad link?

No. The iPad does not allow (unless you have "jailbroken" it) code to run that is not signed and each app runs in its own protected area (sandbox) so that it cannot talk with other apps and they cannot interfere with it.
