Is it legal to make death threats on the internet? - Miss. Floyd - 02-02-2013 08:14 AM

You hear about people doing it all the time on Twitter.

You also hear about people getting sued or going to jail because of what they wrote on Twitter all the time, no it isn't legal.

Serious threats are definitely not legal.

Jokes aren't technically legal, either, but they're much harder to pursue.

Excuse me, but what you are calling "the internet" is actually "The http world wide web protocol.", or as I've taken to calling it, the "HTTP://WWW.* protocol." Many people use it today without noticing. Using services such as SSH and FTP are also the internet, but mainly, people call the http://www* protocol "the internet" because they are illiterate.

Any threat is illegal, whether it be in real life or on the internet
A real person is behind the screen threatening you, so of course anyone can get in trouble.
IP's are easily tracked, the cops will find you, and you will most likely do jail time for doing it!
Not worth it if you ask me! The internet is really beginning to be more and more life ruining
