I have recently created a blog,
cannibells.tumblr.com
& most people say to follow as many people as you can, and most follow back.
But I dont like the genre of blog that most of the "follow for follow" ones have.
Is there any other way to become tumblr famous?

The primary way to be Tumblr famous, far as I can tell, is to post such amazing unique material that everyone wants to follow you -- and post more fresh content than you reblog. People who only reblog others' work without any part of themselves shared are ignorable. Your blog is okay, you're cute

I recommend using tumblrplug.com , it may not work right away but if you keep adding your blog in a bunch of the categories people should start seeing your blog. Keep a steady posting amount, people tend to unfollow if the person has been inactive for a while or barely posts. Be yourself! Try to find more people that like the same thing as you, in my case I follow a lot of blogs about the show Supernatural, and some of them have followed me back.

Keep in mind that doing good work, being constant and patient is the most natural way of getting new followers.

These are the tips I have to get a bunch of followers:
*Participate in a BUNCH of promos. It gets your name out there
*When you reblog something, it says on the bottom right above the reblog button "Clicking this photo links to the URL:" always put your URL there. I find a lot of blogs through that.
*Set up a Queue, putting it on times you won't be on. Keep in mind about the different time zones, so people in other countries will be on when you're asleep.
*Go to blogs that are popular that you follow, and compliment their blog. Like, a good, genuine compliment, something different and specially for their blog. When they get the message, they'll either, A) go check out your blog, B) Say thanks to you by posting the comment, where other people will see you, or C) Both. Sometimes they won't do either, but at least you made their day!
*Be consistent.
*Follow blogs similar to you. Like you said, they might follow you back.
