wtf is twitter dawg

the # is just a hashtag; think of it like a tag to delineate discussions about different topics. For a good guide on getting started with Twitter (I just joined about a month ago), I would try this: http://michaelhyatt.com/2008/05/the-beginners-guide-to-twitter.html

@ is when you want to reply to someone... for example, if someone said "i got new shoes!" and you want to reply to them, you can either click the arrow at the end of the tweet or you can type @username and start typing what you want to say to them.

# mean code. If you want something to go on the trending topics, than you put # in front of the the keyword. For example, i want to go to #newyork

Hope i helped

A hashtag (#) denotes a trending (popular) topic or a searchable term. All that means is that by placing a hashtag in front of a word or phrase (with nospaces if it's multiple words), if somebody searches for that word or phrase (exactly as you typed it) all the tweets containing that word or phrase will show up. Just helps you search for stuff Smile
