What is so great about the Beatles that people tell me I should listen to them? - mrs.purrcy - 02-12-2013 07:49 PM

Its the same way I feel about social media - chances are if something was good according to my standards, I would have already heard or given them a chance. and Beatles, doesn't interest me. I can't get into them. Why does everyone think they are amazing and that I should listen to them?

The Beatles are great because they paved the way for the different types of music today by using unorthodox methods or trying unusual things.
Frankly I don't like their music much. They sound like nursery rhymes most of the time

Because they are considered legendary musicians because they changed the way music was played, written and preformed. They aren't the best band in the world, but they achieved and changed a lot which makes the aspect of The Beatles music so cool. Not everyone has to like The Beatles, but they do have great music.

The lyrics are amazing and the music is beyond their time. Give them a chance. If you don't like the originals, look up songs from the movie "Across the Universe". They are all beatles covers. Same songs but sound a bit more modern.

I admit that I thought the same thing before I got into them, but I gave them a chance and now I like them for their lyrics and musicianship.

The Beatles were largely excellent musicians, for a rock band. Their songs were well crafted and musically interesting. And as has been said, they pretty well revolutionized how music was made, at the time. That was then, that's the legacy. I'm not surpised that some say they don't really like their music, today. Part of the Beatles phenomenon was the freshness, and that has long passed. I have to say that I grew up with them and I don't sit around listening to them either. I'd say to check out "The White Album", Revolver, Abbey Road. Sgt. Peppers was revolutionary but I don't know that it wows in quite the same way, today. If you still don't like them, then that's fine...
