I read the Yahoo article on how a few bloggers are making a lot of money. But there are 30 million of us who mostly do it for free. To get advertising, do you contact companies to solicit ads directly and, if so, what kind of statistics do you need to give them (topic of blog, real traffic, likely target audience, etc?) It would be good to know the steps to attract advertising directly rather than relying on middlemen (although a list of those would be good to have, too). Thanks for any help..

I hate Bloggs that are full of advertisements. I use Firefox and block them.

if your blog has a wide variety of audience and a large number of "subscribers" daily then it is very likely that they will contact you for advertising on your page. you don't necessary have to contact them.. cuz if there's a certain amount of traffic in your page,, they'll be the ones who contact you. but you could try being the one contacting them too to see if they're interested. but they'll have to see how many people read your page daily and stuff like that..

Try G2Bay. This is a social networking site where people help each other make and save money. People post their photos, blogs, news, product and service reviews and talk about the stocks they own. Every user gets a Million Dollar Page where advertisers pay to find the right customers. The more hits you get on your page, the more money advertisers will give you.
