In today's world most people communicate with their friends through social media and, in some cases, the only email they get is spam. Given these trends is email an obsolete technology?

Not at all, I do a lot of my business correspondence via e-mail. It is impossible to do so on a social media site. There is no way to attach drawings.

He days?? I don't think e-mail is nowhere close to becoming obsolete.
