Why do dating sites charge for their services? - Ryan - 02-14-2013 08:21 AM

Myspace and Facebook offer their services for free and they make all of their money through advertisements. Why isn't there a large FREE dating website that does the same thing. I know there are a few free ones but they aren't as good as the pay sites.

Making it a paid service is the first barrier that will separate the serious to the cheap ones looking for a quick hook-up.

You said it yourself, the free ones are not as good as the pay sites.

MYspace and Facebook aren't dating sites silly, Dating sites are specially aimed at pairing you up with someone

Because no dating site is as popular as myspace, since most dating sites are for adults 18 and over, and because unlike what most people think, most social network sites like Facebook don't really make a lot of money with advertisements. You said it yourself free dating sites are not as good as paid ones because the service offered by paid dating sites does have a cost, the small money they could make with ads would not be enough to cover all their costs.

Besides datings sites and sites like facebook don't serve the same purpose.
