Vista sound problem: changing volume on its own? - Jim M - 02-14-2013 01:20 PM I have two sound cards and have tried both but still have the same problem: the sound level will go up and down by itself! Like a ghost is controlling it. It is a dual core dell pc with vista. as i like to lay in bed and listen to internet radio stations, this is a very annoying problem. any body that has had this experience and conquered it please let me know how. - Dell Inc. - 02-14-2013 01:28 PM Hello Jim M, I am from Dell Social Media and Community. Follow the link below to run a basic hardware test on your system. http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kcs/document?docid=266787 This test may take more than one hour. If the test fails verify the error code in the link below. http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kcs/document?c=us&docid=583411&doclang=en&l=en&s=gen&cs= If all the initial test and memory test pass, continue with the prompts to run further test and you will get a window listed as Custom test, symptom tree, ect. Select Custom Test and run a test on your speakers. If the tests pass, please logon to http://www.support.dell.com to download the sound card drivers. If this also does not fix the issue, disable short-keys, if any to adjust the volume. If this has not helped you or if you need any further assistance, feel free to message me on Twitter(@NiranjanatDell). I will be happy to assist. Dell-Niranjan |
