Can we Help the Trapped Orcas Today? - Erika S. - 02-15-2013 05:53 PM

Can we do our bit and save this family of 11 orcas? I think we can! Please spread the word to help save (= force the Ministry of Fisheries to stop stalling and do what's necessary) the 11 trapped whales in Hudson Bay, you can view the heart-breaking videos and read about it on http://www.globalnews.ca/icebreaker+needed+to+save+orcas+trapped+in+hudson+bay+ice+in+northern+quebec/6442785033/story.html with videos and all the details, including the desperate plea of the local mayor). Locals are urging people to contact the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and ask Ottawa to stop stalling and send an ice-breaker and help with the necessary tools asap; quoting verbatim globalnews.ca, the DFO can be reached at by phone and email (both you can find them on that globalnews . ca page I highlighted; I also suggest to spread that page and the info through facebook or twitter or any other social media to get as many people to email or phone the authorities so that they get moving NOW. I apologize to the community but I feel it's necessary to spread the word and do our bit, even if it's just to make a phone call and send an email.
The globalnews . ca page is on: http://www.globalnews.ca/icebreaker+needed+to+save+orcas+trapped+in+hudson+bay+ice+in+northern+quebec/6442785033/story.html

This link is a Facebook of a person who lives in the small village that is doing the relief effort. The Town mayor is setting up and account for donations. Please distribute as widely as possible for maximum effect. Note: This is a very small village (1500 people) who are using their winter supplies (gas chainsaws food clothing etc) They will need money to replace these items that they need but used to try to assist these whales. Please 1. Donate as you can and 2. Distribute the link as much as possible. Remember anything they need has to be airlifted in so its expensive. Also anybody with some web know-how, please get this message around as much as possible. Thanks
