I've already set my profile to private, so that people have to ask to follow me. But it seems that they can still mention me on twitter.
I've also been told that blocking someone doesn't restrict them from mentioning you. How do I stop this?

Tell you're friends to stop mentioning you. Or just delete your twitter if it bothers you that much.
