If you want to keep up with friends and family why not just email them or phone them? - Island - 02-16-2013 12:00 PM

Why do people waste time on facebook? Don't people realize what facebook is doing to their social lives?
Or better yet, hang out if they dont live far away?

I don't think they do realize. After all, they have 1,265 friends, what could be better?

LOL at the fisrst answerer

Anyways I guess those people are lazy or sometimes those people who claim to be your friends don't even invite you to hang out even tho they know you still live in town or call or text at all even though they have your number and email address.

and

no, people don't realize the effects but then again life is advancing and so is technology nowadays exist norms for internet communication which is just a pain for me to learn.

Some people prefer to see all their friends and family at one time. Instead of making arrangements and planning out a schedule for each person.
An email may take awhile. You send an email today and the recipient may not check it for 2 months or so.
A phone call....you have to know their work schedule and livestyle. If you call them...they might be at work....sitting through a meeting, driving or giving a presentation somewhere. Everytime you call....it could be a bad time for them.
Visiting.......you could have people 1500 miles away, always too busy for a phone call and rarely check emails but they love twitter and facebook.
You can check facebook and twitter anywhere. There is apps for your android/
smartphone. So it's easy and convenient for everyone.
