I have Dell Insp 15 R, I am using win 7, I have single partition of C drive, I want to create one more drive. Please help me.

Hi Rohan,
My name is Gautam and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell.
Please follow the steps below to create partition using disk management in win 7.
1) Click on the start button.
2) Click on 'control panel'
3) Select 'administrative tools'
4) Select 'Computer Management'
5) Locate and select 'Disk Management'
Right Click on the C: which is located under Disk 0, and then select shrink volume.
Follow the steps to shrink the volume to make space for a new partition.
After that, you will have unallocated data under Disk 0. Now right click on this unallocated data, and select 'Create a simple volume'. Follow the steps to make a new partition.

To create and format a new partition (volume)
Open Computer Management by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, clicking Administrative Tools, and then double-clicking Computer Management. Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
In the left pane, under Storage, click Disk Management.
Right-click an unallocated region on your hard disk, and then click New Simple Volume.
In the New Simple Volume Wizard, click Next.
Type the size of the volume you want to create in megabytes (MB) or accept the maximum default size, and then click Next.
Accept the default drive letter or choose a different drive letter to identify the partition, and then click Next.
In the Format Partition dialog box, do one of the following:
If you don't want to format the volume right now, click Do not format this volume, and then click Next.
To format the volume with the default settings, click Next.
Review your choices, and then click Finish.
Note
When you create new partitions on a basic disk, the first three will be formatted as primary partitions. Beginning with the fourth, each one will be configured as a logical drive within an extended partition.

There are two solutions for you to create partition in win7.
1. Use Windows 7 snap-in Disk Management tool to shrink C drive and then create the new partition on the unallocated space.
2. Use free third party program like Partition Magic, AOMEI Partition Assistant to split your C drive into two or more. http://www.disk-partition.com/resource/split-partition-windows-7.html

I suggest you first backup your system and important data before you partition it, just in case of any accident.

The snap-in disk management could help you partition hard disk, you could right-click "C" drive, select "shrink volume" to release some unallocated space, then you could create new partition on the unallocated space. Here is an article about this, hope it could help you
