How long does it normally take twitter to act on spam reports? - Hairy Krishna Rama Ji - 10-12-2012 06:42 AM

So I reported someone for spamming last night and this morning the account is gone, nowhere to be seen. Does twitter normally act this fast? Or did the person just delete the account on their own? I'm kind of regretting reporting them now and am hoping the account wasn't disabled because of me. And yes they were genuinely spamming/promoting their business.

The action of twitter on Spammers is generally no this fast. Usually twitter does not take any action on any particular user unless it receives large number of complaints against the user. If large number of complaints are raised against a user within a short time, then the authorities would check the account and delete it immediately if there is something wrong with the user. The twitter authorities do not have enough time to check each and every complaint as they receive millions of complaints each day. So unless the get more number of complaints against a particular user they do not take any action.
