1. Limited Audience. Typically other advertising venues are viewers by many more people. Also, in addition to fewer people viewing the ads, very few people pay attention to online advertisements. People read billboards, people listen to radio ads, people watch commercials but once someone clicks off of a web page, most of them cant tell you what advertisements was on the previous page.

2. Most people on social networking sites are young (16-28) techy people. This misses a huge demographic and if your products target market is for crowds outside of that demographic, advertsiisng on social media sites are not going to be effective.

3. Most people dont trust online advertising. People dont advertise scams on tv or in magazines, they do it online. So, most people dont trust online advertisements.

You are bothering people who came to the site to be social. The ads are turning it into commercial rather than social in nature.
