I heard the that the owner of Facebook makes a WHOLE lot of money. How does he do that with a free social networking website??

Millions of people use facebook, so its a good place to stick an ad.
Corporations pay top dollar for that.

advertisements companies pay big bucks to have their adds on facebook
since a lot of people are on they will see the adds and want to buy what the Company is selling.

Through Facebook Ad's that mostly appears on the right hand side when you login. Facebook Advertisers get to promote their website or page by paying per click. The cost per click also various by country. i.e. A click from USA would cost the advertiser more than the one from say Indonesia.
