I have just signed up to twitter and i'm confused as to how you send someone a tweet? can someone explain please, Thanks.

well, you find out their username and put an @ in front of it
eg:
"@Sarah Hey!" or whatever
but you can sent private messages to anyone following you, through Direct Messages
i was really confused at first, but you get used to it

you can message people through direct message. to do this you have to be "following" them. to write the message go to where you put your "status updates" and put @ followed by their twitter name and then your message... so for example @hodgessteph hi how are you. they will recieve it in their direct message folder and be able to reply.
