Do companies pay to be on google? - K - 02-21-2013 08:02 PM

I am doing a project for one of my classes and we have to recommend new social media strategies for a specific company. Anyway, when you Google or do a Bing search, this company's social media websites are towards the bottom of the search page... could this company pay Google or Bing to move their social media sites closer to the top of the search results?

No, they cannot pay to move higher up. The top results are usually the most relevant and popular websites.

However, companies can purchase a "sponsored search". This works pretty much in the same way: when certain keywords are typed in, the company advert appears at the TOP of the search, usually in a pink box. They can also pay to have an ad on the right hand side of the page.

NOTE: If you are using an ad-blocker, you will NOT see these sponsored searches.

google and bing doesn't charge you anything to be indexed in search results at all
and you can't get good ranking by paying money to them although you can show your site as sponsored links in google results page sidebar
in simple words you can pay google and bing to show your site for particular keywords in the right hand sidebar on results page
hope it help you Smile
