On a comnputer running Windows, about how often should one find a virus on it? - Razorflame (US) - 02-26-2013 09:04 PM

My computer runs Windows, and I use a great antivirus program, however, about once in a couple of weeks, it finds a virus on my computer. I do visit a lot of different websites, however, this doesn't account for the viruses showing up on my computer. About how often should one find a virus on their computers?

Thanks for the help in advance!

You should constantly run a virus scan, most good anti-virus should isolate a virus before it does any harm. Also check Microsoft Website for updates as there a numerous security flaws in Windowns and microsoft is constantly putting out new patches. Also be careful when opening any email from someone you dont know or be sure to scan all attachments before opening them as that is how most viruses are spread. If there is a possibility of an attack or virus infecting your PC, when visiting a bogus website, the anit-virus software should detect it and prompt you.

How often?  Almost never.  I only encounter two or three a year.

It really depends on your internet browsing habits.

I only browse around on Facebook, Y!A, and other trust-worthy websites, and I haven't gotten a virus since I built my PC (about 2-3 years ago).

On the other hand, if you torrent a lot, you could run into viruses multiple times a week if you aren't careful.

The frequency of viruses on your PC is quite normal, so don't be worried!

I hope this helps!
